Got this from my bid board yesterday. Didn't notice the reverse rim damage until I got it home and started looking closely. Still overall AU with luster but likely details because of the rim shot. Not likely struck thru during the minting...

Nice coins...did you think about the corrosion on the obverse of the 08-108 before sending it in?

Beautiful and with a die crack above OF as well. I love die cracks so that makes her just about perfect.

Yes I knew it had it when I bought it. I just wanted it slabbed. I am fond of this design more so than any other. That's the only reason I bought that one and sent it in.

I thought it was a 105. The e in e pluribus is filled in at top?

After checking Heritage, I cannot find another example in as advanced a die state as yours, Not only is the reverse die crack strong, but a delicate die crack at the star at 1 O'clock is seen on none other I can locate.

There is either only one set of dies or varieties are not widely known outside of Proof Only JD-1. But my go to source is silent on this.

Says on the o108 that stars 1,7, and 8 point between segments. Star 1 points at the segment not in between. And as in my other post, my coin shows the "E" in e pluribus as being closed on top. The o 105 says in layer die states the top of the E is closed. The o 108 says nor shows nothing like that. The hardest thing you can do while looking at the minutia is to remember the basics. It happens to me all the time. Usually because I "see" what I expect to see rather than with an objective eye.

But I've been wrong and you are usually right! I just wanted to make sure I knew what it was!

A better date 1893-O Half Eagle . . . spotting is not uncommon on this date.

A nice new update to my Morgan collection.
This (better date) specimen is well struck, lustrous, and has some nice looking water colored Obverse rim toning. It’ll definitely work.
