I have decided that I am buying a new very good digital camera by xmas at the latest!!! so so sick of not being able to get a decent shot with my phone.. For now, I have ordered what looks like it might work until then (cheap out lol) From walmart none the less... should be here in a few days (yeah right like 2 day delivery actualy means crap to them lol) 5mp camera (so it says but hell my phone says it's an 8mp camera and that's total BS) we'll see how this works out lol...
This is what I use,ordered a new one recently.Just like yours cheap but my first lasted a few years so I figured.
I have the same microscope (without the fancy base) it takes great close up pictures and decent full coin as well (well small coins anyway). The problem is the focus dial (the one on the unit itself, not the on the base) is the one you will use to focus to the coin once you get the height (the dial on the base), is that if you shake even the tiniest amount, it becomes a challenge to focus (at least I do, due to the crappy base mine is on) Just something to think about when shopping for a camera for coins
I don't know what you're trying to accomplish, but buying cheap Walmart junk like that is probably going to be a waste of money and an exercise in futility. If you want a really good setup, and advice on how to use it, I highly recommend you shoot @rmpsrpms a message. He custom-builds rigs for people - and he takes amazing photos. I've seen his for-sale posts in the marketplace, and he caters to a wide range of budgets. Let him know what you need, and he'll set you up.
What I bloody need is a copy stand..........get a good one, and a decent DSLR, with a macro lens, and you're in business.
yeah like i said will be looking into a much better setup shortly, but I need something for now so i can stop pulling my hair out lol...
Those don't work great with imaging entire coins, especially larger ones in my experience. I have the same set-up as @Inspector43 but I paid more for mine Works nicely for VAMs and the like. I should play with mine some more.
Note my phone works fine with coins this is for the small stuff it can't catch well or just not at all without some extra help.
I had to put mine on a taller stand than the one it comes with. In the photo of my set up the Morgan is lying at the base and the image is on my desk top monitor. When you look to buy a telescope camera make sure you get one that is stated to get the image of the full coin. More magnification and more pixels is not always a friend to sharp photos of coins.
Depends on what you want. I've seen him post builds for as low as $150-$200. Obviously, it won't do as much as an $800 build... but I'm pretty sure it'll still take a whole lot better pictures than whatever walmart thing the OP bought.
