From Leu's auction, which closed on 15 August. I paid for it the same day, too. I know that Leu had to get an export permit, which took a few weeks, but it was another week and a half or so in transit. Let's see your new acquisitions!! Faustina II, AD 147-175. Roman AR denarius, 3.61 g, 19.7 mm, 1 h. Rome, late AD 162 – early 163. Obv: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, draped bust of Faustina, right, wearing strand of pearls around her head. Rev: VENVS GENETRIX, Venus standing left, holding Victory in extended right hand and shield depicting the Dioscuri in left hand. Refs: RIC 734 var.; BMCRE 172; RSC 280a; RCV 5268; MIR 35-4/10b; CRE 227.
Great coin! …an alternate take on the reverse is that it shows an ancient car (or in this case chariot) seat for her kids.
Nice new one, RC. I am particularly impressed by the detail on the shield. It put me in mind of this sestertius, which (I think) has the wolf n' twins on the shield: Faustina II Æ Sestertius (161- 176 A.D.) Rome Mint FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, draped bust right, with band of pearls / VENV VICTRIX SC Venus standing left, holding Victory in right hand, resting left hand on shield on which is the she-wolf & twins, set on helmet. RIC 1688; BMCRE 960-65; (23.64 grams / 30 x 26 mm) eBay Mar. 2020 (UK)

Took 9 days to arrive.
Nice coins! This is a relatively new acquisition. While quite often available, this sestertius of Faustina II has a fairly uniform, hard patina. I don't think it is a Maaco paint job. Roman Empire, 146-176 CE: Faustina II AE sestertius Obverse: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, draped bust right Reverse: SAECVLI FELICIT, pulvinar on which are seated Commodus and Antoninus. RIC-1665, Cohen-193. 20.98 grams I've noticed other sestertii of Faustina II with really smooth patinas. Perhaps these coins all came from a hoard or collection.
