I would like some verification/confirmation, opinions etc. The Letter "P" on this nickel looks like it was struck twice.

File is to large even after I editted it a couple of times :( . I hope you all can see this because it would be my first coin that I noticed something like this and I wouldnt want to ring your necks out if this isnt anything hehe:hammer::goofer::D The second web address is the one with the detail(a little blurry however I think it's still very clear). Could I be wrong but in the first nine it also appears have a little double strike in it too?

Can't see your images since they require a Yahoo login.

I can see what you're talking about, but without a much larger image I don't think anyone will be able to make a definitive statement.
And there's some VERY good people here at CT (in this case I'm probably not one of them).

OK second try in posting.. First I apprecaite you helping me and secondly. I was able to upload just the letter "P" though it may be a still hard to tell due to the pic. being a little blurry....but I hope someone can prove me wrong :)

Since mintmarks were no longer "hand" punched in 1999 but place directly on the production hub, in theory this should not be an RPM (Repunched Mintmark).
So that should leave only strike (or mechanical) doubling.
BUT if that is the source of the doubling then it should show on other areas of the coin like the date.
    I don't see that.

The only other thing I can think of is post-mint damage.
Automated coin wrapping machines often "push" design elements on coins around creating apparent doubling.

I've pretty much run out my string.
Now we have to wait for the big guns to chime in.

For the sake of argument (wrong word cause I am not trying to argue with you, just trying to understand..or look at it in another way) if it was something like a coin machine why would the doubling of the coin appear to come from behind the letter instead of on top/infront of it, does that make sense?

Thank you for letting me know what RPM stood for and your explanation..it helped a lot. I have a 24 inch Monitor so I was able to blow up this nickel a lot and noticed there were a few other letters that had the same appearance as the letter P and also one 9 in the date. But it wasnt all letters it's only a couple. Because of that, maybe it's something that happened from a coin machine I dunno.

    Mucho Gracias :)

So I just got a couple rolls of nickels and Dimes..nothing to special with the nickels, a few late 50s to 64. I did find another 1999 "P" nickel where the P looks doubled.

On a side note, I am now going through my first roll of pennies and I found 1996 Proof :)

This is die deterioration doubling. Very common on nickels, especially in 1999.
