I really like the clean fields in this one and the color looks more of a rich chocolate brown than what I can capture. I think the strong wheat lines and a nice "O" in "ONE" makes it a not bad coin.

    Finds CRH today that 1979 is a stunner really a shame of what happened to the reverse of that middle 1959. 20210904_193112.jpg 20210904_193635.jpg 20210904_193750.jpg 20210904_193732.jpg 20210904_193656.jpg 20210904_193714.jpg 20210904_193834.jpg 20210904_193849.jpg

I usually have the opposite problem. I find one with a killer obverse and the reverse is garbage. LOL

Finding a nice 1979 is tough, the vast majority are MS-63 and below.

I've been searching for a nice '79 for a few decades. The nicest one I've found is not even in an airtite yet because I'm still looking.

It's the SAME story with my 79D - neither mint could produce a decent example for collectors IMO.....still looking after 30+ years. As I remember finding one without shoulder or STATES weakness is very challenging.

Yes, that is the DDO-001 and no, it didn't come from CT member Kentucky.

That is the "culprit" responsible for me getting into varieties. A mentor (and CONECA Rep) on a coin forum helped attribute it because I was so green at the time (2013). And because he gave so much of his time helping newer collectors (he was very patient) I gifted it to him. I would do it again because of all the help he has given over the years. He certainly believed in paying it forward like a lot of members here. (Sorry ladies and gents but never found another one to gift.)

This coin caught my eye in change so I plucked it out. Has some nice toning to it. IMG_E4853-tile.JPG

Really like that 1960 Proof Robec. Spectacular.

Hmmm .... Interesting how the original copper color is retained only at the center of both sides, where the metal moves the least. Wonder what that's a clue about or telling us? Love it.
