I was driving into work and hit a huge pothole. I didn't think much of it at all untill I went back to my car 2 hours later. Had a flat tire and had to change it in my office clothes. Found out I had bent the rim in two places. Realizing payday was Friday and I didn't have that kinda cash on me, I had to ask my wife for the money. Ended up having to replace 2 tires and one rim. Later on, not wanting to owe my wife, I decided to take several extra indian head cents to the local Pawn/Coin shop. I got a fair price of $150 for the indian heads. Before I walked out of the shop, I asked he had any wheats. He had to large bottles full and a few rolls. After debating on how to count them, we decide to weigh the coins and divide by what ever a single coin weighed. He decided to sell them to me at 4 cents each. I ended up getting close to 40 rolls. He told me he had a ton more rolls that he really doesn't need. He is going to sell them to me for 2.00 a roll as soon as he gets them gathered up. I already found an XF 1927, 42- 1920, 3- 1933, 1932-d, 2-1916 S- 1915-D , 1928-d, 1912 and 2 Indian heads among others
Some nice finds there. So, is your day going to get bad again when you tell your wife you can't pay her back because you bought more coins instead?
I don't thing 2.00 per roll is that bad. He has to make a profit also. Of course when he brings out the big box of rolls, I may see if he can make me a better deal.
That's a good deal At 4 cents each, they are a bargain. Pay his price and be sure to leave your phone number in case he gets more someday. He'll call you right up and give you first chance in the future. Congrats!
See you really missed out attempting to introduce your wife to coin collecting. If she too was a coin collector, you both would be there today buying up all the rest of those coins. Of course then there would be a real battle to determine who gets what and you'ld probably loose there.
My heart goes out to the guy. I hope that I never see the day that I have sell coins so that I'm not in debt to my wife. Glad it worked out after all.
