Hello everyone. I have something very exciting to share! I few weeks ago I created a thread about a Machine Shop near my job that closed due to the owner's passing away. There is a gentleman who's emptying out the contents of the shop every day. Here is that thread https://www.cointalk.com/threads/scandinavian-padlock-aka-polhem-lock.384551/ Today I went into the shop to see if I could find any goodies.. I saw the most amazing thing. 24 Rolls of Pennies.. Older style wrappers I asked about them and he said he found them in an old box and he was planning to take them to the bank. I quickly said that I would gladly take them from him.. so I asked how much? It was face value he wanted.. $12.00 I took a $20.00 bill, handed it to him, told him to keep it and I left with all 24 rolls! I am extremely busy at work so at this moment so I can't really look at the contents of the rolls. But I opened one of them and this is what I found All Wheat Cents! 2 of them Steel Cents and 1 old Canadian Cent This is going to turn out to be a very exciting coin roll search.. It already is!
Amazing. You don't even need a detector. Put your fingers in your ears and walk around going "beep, beep, beep", and you get right to the prize. Great find, amigo. Have a lot of fun searching those beauties.
Fantastic Paddy but I’m afraid you’ll be lost as they weren’t in the ground. Lol Seriously, a great find and I’d plan on stopping by again and seeing what can you find. Please share your results of rolling searching (a new term for you) with us.
I had half an hour to sort through my first roll. I made 5 piles of different decades. Teens, 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's.. 1917 was the oldest. I don't have a loop at work but my reading glasses helped
Ed, go sprinkle those on the ground and re-discover them with your metal detector so you can say you found them while metal detecting, and make your group jealous. LOL
At home now.. I opened up every roll and carfully separated the Cents by Wheats, Memorials, Damaged and Foreign. There are several hundred Memorial Cents. Many 1960's and 1970's which I have to check for varieties and errors. Wheat Cents - 2 Steel Wheats This small pile are the only 1980's I also got a Skeleton Key, a Clock Key and some cool portrait of Lincoln set on a wooden block.
4 foreign coins Interesting Damaged Cents (newbie errors ) RED Wheat! I'm tired.. I need sleep! To be continued another day
