I like really the design of these Netherland 5 Euro commems. I had only wished the little circle inside was designed more concave and bowl-like with a raised numeral. I can't tell if you are only photographing the silver coin but there is also a gold version as well. I love that this coin includes the name Manna-Hata, as the Lenape people knew the island.

Also check out the Mannahatta Project website.

The city had a lot of celebrations this past summer for the 400th anniversary as well:

    Hudson 400

    NY 400

    Henry Hudson 400

    Explore NY 400

    Dutchess 400

400 Years Later, Another Dutch Island [NY Times]

And of course, Walt Whitman's verse Mannahatta

Doesn't take money just passion to get cool coins like this and this coin doesn't come cheap either, most are $50-$70 retail.

Thanks. Chris and I had discussed this coin quite a bit before it was released. And then, just as it was released, my life went upside down. Finally, I scavenged up a spare 40 dollar and looked everywhere for the coin, but it really sold out across the board. I was so lucky to find it for the price I did. And I tried to go to the Dutch Celebrations here in the city.

This is the second modern Dutch Commem I brought. We also have this one

There were just 20,000 of the silver proof commem. minted.

I don't have a mintage number on the gold coin.

There are a few coins in this Netherlands 2009 400 series

I quite the Japan designs as well.
