Hi everybody hope all is well as I stumble upon these coins I apparently look too hard at them I start seeing things that aren't really there but I would hate to just toss them to the side without really knowing what they are so with that look at the d mint mark RPM? How about the words Liberty the l especially i don't see anything in God we trust but that doesn't mean nothing's there. How about the earlobe right under it is a little speck probably environmental damage but nonetheless something's there. On the reverse what happened to Lincoln he's not in the memorial it's just a white mark old die perhaps. Check out the word United anything there? possibly in the u again thanks all 20210901_112904_HDR.jpg 20210901_112657_HDR.jpg

Looks like a normal worn beat up coin by those images

See if you can find matches at VV and Wexler. You have the coin in hand and can see closer than we can. Or, you could provide closer pics of the areas in question.

@Jjpe Your pics are at a distance I cannot tell much except for normal wear and tear from circulation. The missing statue is not common but does happen from a very worn die. I have seen many with nearly completely missing statues. Not really an error but more poor workmanship in not replacing the die earlier on.

Your pics are blurry and indistinct when I enlarge them. Close-ups are your solution, and if you can’t make them with your phone you need to find a better solution. Sorry your phone got stolen…Spark

In my opinion, the worst thing you're doing is looking at beat up and damaged coins, trying to see/find something out of the ordinary.
All you'll find is beat up damage.

Do you have a Red Book? If not, get one. It tells you about everything you need to know to start being a coin collector. It especially tells you about errors and/or varieties to be looking for.

Once you decide what you want to know more about, come back and ask for help on that specific subject, and someone like myself will give you links to more detailed information.

    Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

Nice worn coin. 1978 was a great year. Started out as the second semester of my freshman year in HS. Then summer vacation turned 15 and the fall semester of sophomore year of HS. Lots of great rock and roll music released that year. Great times and memories.

I put my cell phone on top of a soda can, and use a loupe to magnify a little bit. Or, there are 10 dollar 'clip on lenses' for cell phones which can get nice pictures. Mine is "Godefa" brand.. Chinese company but their support team was helpful to me and they work just fine.

Here are pictures using these lenses from a while back. All the coins are dime-sized just so you can get a picture for how strong the lenses are.

And no, I'm not sponsored by this company, just satisfied with the photos I can get.
