Good afternoon all I found a cool uncirculated Denver penny in a coin roll today and have a couple of questions about it. Firstly is there any way I can find out the age of it? Thanks for the reply, I read up on that on google but I couldn’t see if they made them for a certain amount of years or not and if there’s any way to determine what year set it came from?
BTW, your method of posting pictures is awkward for me to look at them. Are you using the "Upload a File" command at the bottom?
Good afternoon Yes I go into the gallery and then upload the file, there’s no option for me to enlarge the pictures or make my own album ( if there is I can’t seem to find it )
I can't remember how many years they used them but there is no way to tell the age differences, unless still in the OGP, as they were made the same for all years they were used. These were just a filler to round out the set. Just like the plastic Ike tokens were an add on.
Thank you for the reply, I haven’t even heard of plastic Ike tokens so I’m going to look those up now lol. I read these things were just a filler for the mint sets, I was just happy to find something different from the norm in my cent rolls. I would love to know why they didn’t make them the same way as the cent regarding the obverse reverse being the same way up but I can’t find much regarding that online

It appears you've already done some research on this, so good on you. Some individuals actually collect the Mint tokens from sets. I can't remember off the top of my head who on CT does this, but you might do a search on the subject here on CT to see what you come up with. Why do you wish to know the year of the token? Tokens are commonly minted in the "medallic orientation," instead of the "coin orientation," as are numerous foreign coinage. Nothing odd about that.
Thank you for those pics, I really like the idea of the Ike, I’m going to have to find myself one lol. I enjoy the different kinds of coins I come across and a plastic token has certainly peaked my interest in guessing I can only get one if I buy that similar set? I just wanted to put it with the relevant year coins I have in certain places I I have no idea where to put it but I’m going to keep it as I think it’s pretty cool. I know there’s nothing odd about the orientation I just always liked the fact the currency here is printed in this particular way ( unlike Canadian or English if I remember correctly ) and thought that they would automatically do it with everything they mint? Just an ATD thing on my part more than anything else lol
