I think the technology makes the very high quality less expensive to obtain. I believe this quality of strike has been available at least since I was a child.
Maybe so, but I bought a few Silver 1996 Silver proof sets which look good but they don't look this good. Of course I don't know when you were born either.
2019 and 2020 sets look just as good as the 2021 its the quality of them all being done in 999 as opposed to 900 in my opinion, gives them an over the top wow factor that the 900 silver didn't quite achieve. The thing is though the 2019 or 2020 set is either cheaper or same price and more coins/more silver. You can get the 2019 silver proof set, 10 coins plus the W cent for under $85-$95 on eBay. The 2020 set 10 coins with the W nickel, that a bit more expensive but that's when they raised the price from the mint also and that would set ya back like $145-$155. Still though it's 5 quarters, 1 half and 1 dime in 999 for either set. The 2019 set seems like a good deal by comparison. I don't want to pay $105 for 2 quarter 1 half and 1 dime in 999. Never mind more than that on the secondary market. It's just insane. So insane in fact, that the 2021 set, if they are put up for sale on eBay at all, sell for less than mint issue price right now the ones that do get listed are selling for $80-$100 or they aren't selling. Imagine that, the mint is still selling them and they are selling on eBay for less than mint issue price... yikes.

If a person wants that set (2021 Silver mint) and can get it for less than the mint price by all means go for it! However in checking Ebay I'm not seeing that happen at least not via the "Buy it now prices" I did a quick search. The lower end of the ebay price is 114 and up for a new unopened intact, 2021 Silver mint set. I can't say what will happen in the future nor can I speak for the ending auction prices, I'm just talking about the present buy it now price on ebay. In my search I did see a couple exceptions, one was a open box and the other was a damaged box. One of them was 100 dollars plus 8 dollars shipping so very close to the mint price. You really got to pay attention as to what you are buying on ebay. One set I saw that was slightly cheaper contained the two silver Quarters but the rest was a clad proof set. I also saw 2021 Clad proof sets going for over a hundred dollars on ebay when they are only 30 something from the mint. I can't say you won't get a better deal on a Ebay auction than the mint. Only way to know is to set through several days of watching and waiting for the outcome. As to the Silver quarters in the set, they are selling for 60 and up on ebay just for the quarters at buy it now prices. I'm new at this and there is a lot of things I don't like having to pay a lot of money for. I don't like to pay 600 for a copper or bronze small penny. But if you want a 1909S Indian head in AU or something close in quality that's the going price so the book price often don't mean a lot if you are a buyer and want something. Some of today's mint coins will be tomorrows rare coins. Proofs as you all know are the absolute finest coin product of any year and normally have the lowest numbers minted of any mint product, thus represents on average the most valued coins for any year. So if you want to help those of us out who do buy them, then please don't buy them, then my proofs will be all that much more rare and valuable!
I'm not trying to be flip, I check sold listings on there. the few that have sold, sold at or below mint issue price. BIN is an exception but those selling are few and far between also. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1338587316...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/2652830661...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/234111329270?hash=item36821f63f6:g:LvIAAOSwUzRghXli I'd agree the buy it nows are like $114-$124 that do sell. but that's how few are listed and they are making $10-$20 bucks maybe. they do have the mint shipping cost and the shipping cost to their customer also though. they have to give the free shipping. There's a set on there now, $120 for a starting bid, $4.00 for shipping, 12 hours left and not a single bid on it. Will someone grab it at the end? I dunno.
Anyone who knows they are still for sale at the mint for 105 would certainly not bid on it at a starting bid of 120 so no big surprise there. I do get it that compared to previous years the 105 cost is out of line. As a buyer and not a seller I wish it were lower too. I imagine the sellers do even more so. I just don't see a lot of options for us? Only two options I see. We buy now from the mint or wait and see if the price drops in a year or so from the sellers. If the price don't drop and you still want one you pay more later. It is possible you are right and the price will eventually drop due to lack of interest or because you aren't alone in feeling like the price was too high to start with. But the dealer's can break up the set and still make a little. Maybe roughly 60 for the two quarters and close to 60 for the Silver Kennedy proof half (Maybe more if graded and sold) and there is still the proof Sacagawea dollar, the silver proof dime and the proof penny left to part out to make a few bucks off of.
Yes, it's like $50-$60 for the quarter lens, and like $75 on average for the half dollar lens. but even then they make $120-$130, they spent $105, and they are giving free shipping to whoever buys it, so what do they make $20 before the rest of the fees for paypal and ebay? I dunno. I see some opportunity for PR69 or PR70 graded, but silver being silver, people are pushing those up. you got to happen upon the right time. this was nice, I missed them of course, but they will pop up here and there. https://www.ebay.com/itm/373692010237?hash=item5701c78efd:g:akgAAOSwe31hIEVr&nma=true&si=ndA278io0%2FcK%2FC4IgmD5mXeWB2Y%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/133847499871?hash=item1f29eec45f:g:vvYAAOSwKZxgp~3R&nma=true&si=ndA278io0%2FcK%2FC4IgmD5mXeWB2Y%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Guess we best keep our eyes open for those rare great deals!
I know right?! I don't know if the sellers backed out or not, but those kind of things happen from time to time In all categories on there. The half dollar don't go that cheap though but I've seen some cheap dimes also. I'm guessing people looking for the PR70 half dollar maybe. The clad coins in the set are easy even graded to find cheap singles of. But usually people bid up silver.
