01-10-2010 Dear Colleagues of the Security Engravers Group: The time has come much sooner that what I thought it would. You know what they say about time right?(Use every bit of it to your fullest potential) With the 2009 Presentation's concluded and 2010 underway, it is time for me to step back. Circumstances in which I am not prepared to discuss have prompted my request for New Administrative Support for this Group. It is my sincere wish that this Group be maintained, supported and held in the highest standards of the fine members in which share this unique interest in Banknote Printing, Engraving, Artistic values and Historical background. In the past few weeks I have had 2 members raise their hands in support of this Group. They are USS656 and DaveM. Getting to know these individuals through their post's, their collections and their technical abilities, I nominate these individuals for the continuance of the Security Engravers Vignette Group. It is my belief that the abilities of these two members is more than sufficient to operate and organize the Group Events as the events have been represented in the past. Let me say that Connor1 will always be the originator of this Group and he should always be included in any decisions affecting the Group and how group events transpire moving forward into the future. As for me, well I will be around for sure, but maybe not as much as I once was. It was a real pleasure for me to get the opportunity to work with each of you in the past and I have learned something from all of you in one way or another. I will try to complete my Presentations as I have signed up for and will notify the new Administrators as that time moves forward, closer to my commitment. I have a "Great" respect for you all and continue the Great Work that has been started here. One of the best compliments this Group has received is a Message from Peter (PM'd to me) about reading the Presentations of 2009 and while not completely following along (cuz he's a coin collector) said the presentations were full of Great information, so much so that he was going to read more into them. "Bravo Peter" we need your support as well. So I give you all my sincere regards and I hope to be present more in the future providing things work out that way. As mentioned I will be around, just not as noticable as in the past. Thanks for all your support! :thumb: RickieB
Rickie, As a member of this group i can only feel a little sad that your Stepping down, With out your hard work i would have never been able To have a presentation at all!! You and Bob have done an outstanding Job I can only hope that the group will continue to thrive in 2010! And Look forward to some more great presentations! Thanks again for a Job well done!!!
RickieB, I have to say I am rather shocked that you have to step aside already. I truly hope that you will be able to continue participating, or to lurk about and above all that have your health and ability to enjoy and continue collecting currency. You have single handedly driven the level of enthusiasm regrading currency around CT to dizzying heights and your work with the Security Engravers Group was a swift and highly organized effort, along with the brilliant contributions of its many members. From our recent exchanges, I know that you surely must know the effect you have had on me. You've helped light the fire within me to begin embracing currency in my numismatic collection. You've helped give me that direction. While I am not new to numismatics, I am a novice amongst currency at this time. While I cannot offer much of myself yet in terms of contributions to this group nor can I offer my administrative abilities as I am not as informed on the topic as are others, I very much look forward to the continued success of this group and the new Administrative leadership that will help to keep this great group going in your absence. Excelsior!
Guy's thanks for the kind words...not really looking for this kind of reply but I appreciate your support. Darryl and Dave, what do you say? Can or will you accept? What I will tell you all is that my reason for having to doing this is health related. Thanks again.. RickieB
Hello RickieB, I would be more than willing to step in. This has been a great learning experience and I hope it continues to grow and draw readers in to learn more about this area. I don't believe I could ever replace you as your knowledge and experience is far beyond mine. I hope and prey that you health issues are minor and temporary! Regardless, I will be honored to take the ball if it is okay with the other members. Best Regards ~ Darryl
I am glad to help as well - I'm sure Darryl and I can share the workload and keep this group growing the way everyone would like. If you have a specific agenda of things you want to pass off to us, perhaps you could do it in a PM, and we can take the torch from there? Dave
USS656 and Dave... Thank you so much for you offer to help. I appreciate it very much. I would not ask if it were not critical. I have to admit that I am a little shaken with my turn of events and ask that if all you guys might keep me in your talks with the Lord. I did not say anything over the Holiday as I had surgery on the 24th of Dec 2009 at 07:00 and the results require me to go back again. This is why I am asking. The next surgery March 9th will be more aggressive and to say the least I am frightened by what I have been told. Thanks for keeping this going guy's..I am trying to spend as much time as I can with my family (son AJ)as possible. Kind regards, RickieB
Rick, best wishes to you for a speedy and complete recovery. In the meantime, I promise not to buy up all the wonderful US banknotes that come on the market, and they will be awaiting you when you return. Dave
Thanks RickieB and everyone else who's participated in this project. I've seen some really wonderful posts in these threads, and obviously a lot of work has been put into producing this. My only regret is the thread of the week isn't working currently, so there's no way to directly give credit due. I do have something in the work to help highlight great threads like these, though, so we'll be seeing it again!
Peter: Your post is the icing on the cake. The Members of this Group are such Great guy's! The dedication to their quest and knowledge seems unlimited. I am so very proud of being part of this...and extremely proud of it's members. Thank you for your comments. Regards, RickieB
