    Can you stick a thin piece of paper underneath the metal in question?
    Looks to be a Lamination to me.

    Odd that the reverse is flattened at 11:00. Doesn't match the lam on the obverse, but still, odd to me.

    The reverse looks like a grease filled die to me. A whole separate issue from the lamination. Nice Find!
