Had a customer in my store yesterday who gave me this at the register thinking it was a dollar coin. Guy bought a beer with it lol! Sometimes I love my job, I see all sorts of different oddities people will use as change. First year, made in England. I don’t even live in Canada myself!

I can't help but wonder if this is stolen property. Anyone who collects coins (any coin) knows not to spend this. Great find!

Sitting in at the bar in a tavern in a little town in Nebraska. Close to the RR station. Waiting for the train. A guy next to me was buying his beers with proof coins. There was a police station a short distance away. Plus, there was a coin shop near (I had been in there earlier). Back then a proof set was $2.10. The guy was getting 91 cents out of a set. I knew if he were a collector he could get at least a coupe of bucks each at the coin shop. I stopped at the police station on my way to the train station. I have know idea what became of it.

I just wonder where a non-collector comes by a piece like this. Did he get it in his change? It looks pretty nice! ...not banged up at all.

It could be that he shoplifted them from the coin store. :)

They had to be stolen or he could get twice as much beer for his money. Beer was like 25 cents a glass then.

Sounds like the beginning of an old 'Brewer & Shippley' song.............

It’s got a dent in it, and is and is a little bent, though you can’t see that in the photo. it’s amazing what circulates as people don’t look at their change.

A real possibility. There’s a coin star across the street from where I work.

I don't remember if it was raining, but, there was sawdust on the floor.
