I know several of the members have come upon treasures they put away and then forgot about for a long while. I now join the roster, but the reward is worth it.

In the late 1970s, about 1977 , I was at a coin show in San Diego and was looking at a table from an older ( I am sure is now deceased) dealer as the show was coming to a end. He was selling everything he could to escape a divorce and move offshore and offered me some Morgans he said were mostly uncirculated with a couple of AUs and offered a very low price if I took all. I thought they were nice and bought the box . Took it home and put it in a safe and then we moved , etc. etc . and to make this short, I thought I had incorporated them into my collections, but last week, cleaning out the safe, I found this. SURPRISE!!!!!! I will put up some photos when I can. Jim

Be nice to see some when you have time. If nothing else you have a nice pile of silver and possibly some nice upgrades.

Nice. Are you sure it made your month? I'd guess it could have made your year.

Reminds me of old man Smith experience.
He was this Shell™ oil retiree who, out of kindness, would repair neighbors broke-dick autos...(Like mine at the time). We struck up a friendship eventually and one day he asked me to bring my metal detector, next time I visited.
He trusted me to tell of his burying a plastic pipe with 50-1 ounce gold coins sealed inside. These 50 count were made up of Kugerands, St. Gaudens and Liberty Head 20$ pieces! I'm sure he wasn't putting me on because during an earlier visit he had shown me a stack of 30 or more he kept in his freezer. He was fairly sure he had buried the pipe in his back yard but had forgotten just where. I searched a good 5 hours digging only junk auto parts he had discarded through the years. He passed away a year later & as far as I know it was never found.
Now that's really forgetting a hoard.

If it were 30 Cpt Morgans then I'd be the one laying around the house.

  20. I am thinking you probably did really well since this show in 1977 was just before silver took off in 1979. Regardless, it's money that was spent so long ago and doesn't really matter now. Congrats on the find. TC

Ok this was a rush job without the better camera or tripod. They are on a plastic sheet that should be bright white. Knew if I didn't show some I would be in pain.

These 10 were in the old vinyl flips of the 70s, a wonder they are not all black except that I live in a desert. Photos taken in the kitchen with LED sheet lighting and by hand. Jim
