I came across this 1957 D Lincoln Cent while CRH and wondered if this is a doubled die or is it just mechanical doubling. It looks like mechanical doubling around the portrait, but I don't know about the letters 'GOD WE'. I didn't find an example online of this particular doubling, so I'm guessing it's just mechanical doubling.
Can you zoom in on your date, mintmark and LIBERTY? You might have a Stage B DDO-002 http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1957DDDO002.htm Don't want to raise your hopes, though - I'm pretty new to this myself.
K, I trust the majority. Nevermind @gduncan However, http://varietyvista.com/ is a good place to go to check for DDO's on Lincolns for future reference.
Welcome to CT @gduncan. Yes, you have doubling, but it is considered "worthless" doubling, as in NAV, no added value. But, I would certainly keep it as a fine example, and as mentioned, a wheat back to boot.
Thanks @CygnusCC I only started looking about 2 months ago and I have recently discovered variety vista and Wexlers websites to look for reference. But I had doubt, and it's good to get feedback here at CT since I'm so new to this.
@CygnusCC see the flat and shelf like appearance? Most of the time you see a profile like that it is MD Keep studying you will find your bearings.
