I thought a "PROOF" was ALWAYS a proof regardless of the condition. like a corvette is ALWAYS a corvette even if it's totaled. Am I wrong? (again)
Some time back, a dealer was offering a Morgan proof, graded PF5. Since it disappeared, I assume someone bought it.
Proof refers to the method of manufacture, Unc refers to the grade/condition (not worn) and details refers to it having a problem. "Proof details" wouldn't tell you anything about the wear or lack of it. Just that it was made as a proof and that it has a problem.
Indeed...think you're right...but seems those TPGs would at least have their internal "nomenclature" together... standardized...if not for grading, et al. Better to just term anything of this sort as a "mark" or "marked"...pretty sure folks will figure it out. They try and describe something like this when it's obvious and not necessary beyond "details" or "details-mark" but when it's one of those "invisible details" they leave you hanging, trying to figure the what/where/why of it.
