Opened a roll of 2 euro cents for our cash register today and among them was this lovely 1965 Canadian cent
I could give it an acetone bath see what happens. It is just nice to see something different here in Euroland. Remember, each euro denomination has the same reverse and nothing older then 1999. Gets old real quick
The only Canadian cents still circulating are in the USA or Europe. The last couple of times in Canada even older 5, 10 and 25c coins are gone - the RCM is actively removing nickel coinage from circulation so that all you see is the rolled steel minors and the loonies and twoonies.
So, I am not likely to find many more then. Glad I got this one. Makes me wonder how long this roll sat in the bank
I wonder how often older German 2 pf coins show up as 2 eurocent coins? Same size, same composition but different edge.
Well, I can answer for this part of South Spain where there is a large German community, we found a lot up to 10 years ago. Now we still get German visitors to our shop who try to pass their old 2 Pfennigs but nowhere near as in the past.
Do conversations there include the phrase "just my 2 cents" or the equivalent, when voicing an opinion? I can see how that can be real confusing, and a lot of fun if I was visiting.
The meaning is still linked to old Spanish as the Euro is still too new. Mi granito de arena translates to my grain of sand
