    Hello everyone,
Today I did a trip to my local Coinstar machine at a nearby Cashier. I took mostly my Metal Detected US Coins, Fog's, Fim's and Fic's
(Found on ground, Meters and Coinstar slots)

My grand total for today was
    $251.06
    -$29.87
    --------------
    $221.18

And I still have another bag with about the same amount of coins or more that I will be taking to deposit soon!

Now I know there are a few of you that will say that they hate the almost 12% Coinstar fee that they charge for the transaction but It doesn't really bother me.. I get it back with the Silver and Gold that I detect!

When I sell these 3 gold chains I detected in one day I should bring in a good amount! :greedy:

And the 1974 Clad Quarter that was spit back into the return slot about 5 times. I don't know why just that 1 quarter. I will check it out when I get home.

At the end of the day, coins cost you nothing but time which you enjoyed. Add up all those hours of enjoyment and divide into the fee. Doesn't add up to much.

Probably an ultra rare error, maybe underweight missing clad layer.....

Why not get one of the no fee gift cards for somewhere you'd be eventually spending money anyway? They have Lowes and Home Depot available in my machine.

That’s a hefty slice the Coinstar folks take! Doesn’t your bank have a machine that doesn’t charge a fee?

Right, or even if that's not an option I always take a handful of change with me every time I use the supermarket self-checkouts.

Not anymore unfortunately.. CapitalOne at one time had a coin kiosk that I loved to use. But then they eliminated them because of maintenance costs :(

Nice haul. Like you and others said, seems like a stiff fee to simply use the machine.
Other's have mentioned it, but don't you have a credit union or local bank that that will process your coins for free? My credit union does that with a CoinStar in their lobby, but $29.88 is a small fee to pay for the hours of enjoyment in the finding.

That phone for cash machine is a new one on me. Wish we had one around here as I have four old cell phones I could cash in rather than gathering dust. I'm of the era that I just can't bring myself to throw things like that out, so they take up room in my cabin. Anyone want an old 25" color TV that still works fine? Remote included. LOL

The thing is Paddy, you don’t detect to make money. You detect for the fun and enjoyment in doing so. You keep the good, silver and look at some of those other things you find. Keep up the good maintenance in those NYC parks for all to enjoy. :)
