Oh my god. Let it go, all of you.

You’re just talking past each other.

Some people like big cities despite the ebb and flow.

    Some don’t.

This is not rocket science and obvious for anyone paying attention.

Now, any other good buys at the Convection?

They find the set of prongs that fit most closely and just push the coin in I guess. I've seen it where only 2-3 prongs actually touch/hold the coin.

that is pretty snug. Is that what they do? I never touched the inner material that the spokes are made from

    Those are some nice owls.

I picked up a handful of provincials including a coin from Antioch under Domitian for $12. That is pure fun for me: sorting through bags or boxes and knowing the general price before I start. I guess that is where my disappointment stems from at this show: I actually went home with money left to spend.

Sorry for the lousy/unedited pictures. Still a fun find. I don’t see a lot of provincials from the Flavians.

Outdated data but yes St Louis has a lot of crime as does Detroit and Cleveland. Not a group you want to be associated with

Love those owls! I don’t collect ancients but would love to own one of those some day.

I got one of these this morning for free from NGC for having a registry set. It’s a nice momento. I got five other coins there. One being a 1880-S toned MS64 star Morgan I couldn’t pass up and a blast white 1937-D MS66 Oregon trail commemorative. Those were the cheap ones. Havent taken pics yet. Did a lot of wheeling and dealing the last 48 hrs.

Ok, some of you are moaning about the ANA being scheduled in Chicago.
Here are the pro's for holding it there.
Very easy to get to. 10 minute shuttle ride from the airport. Several nice
hotels within walking distance. My room at the Crown Plaza was $85 all in
for a night. I stayed 5 nights. Lots of nice restaurants with varying cuisine
and price points. $30 bucks for parking and the snack bar prices are just
part of the experience. Most of us know these issues well before attending.
The convention center graciously allows the ANA to hold their conventions
there. I'm here to tell you that the ANA attendance wise is small potatoes
with an average of 9000 attendees. AMWAY, the SHRINERS and other groups
bring in 40,000+ for their get togethers. No issues with taxes. Those moaning
about parking fees and concession prices can have something to complain
about if they had to pay sales tax on top of their purchases. No unions to
deal with unloading dealer inventory. Would you want some ham fisted person
handling your valuable inventory? As stated before, Chicago is within a
5 hour drive for a large portion of the U.S. population. No other city can boast
that and still provide all that Rosemont offers. The crime situation is on
the South side, 25 miles away. For dealers, Chicago is ideal because it is a
one flight trip. They don't want to change flights carrying $500,000+ inventories.
Las Vegas in the summertime? Really? Dallas? Are you joking? For many
years the ANA sent proposals to several cities and did not get as much as a reply.
Room rates, taxes and unions knock out the North East.
These just a few of the reasons why Chicago is usually chosen for the WFoM
most years. Complain and moan all you want. If parking fees, concession
prices, room rates and the frequent choice of Chicago bother you, just
stay at home, put up your feet, enjoy a meal to your liking and surf the net.

The restaurants behind the parking garage validate the parking, so you can actually get free parking. If it's a nice day and you're up for a 10 minute walk, the CTA parking lot up the road is $7/day.

This is because Rosemont isn't Chicago (although if you tell the police managing pedestrian traffic that you hate their mayor, they know you're talking about Chicago's). It's a tiny enclave between O'Hare and the rest of Chicago that was founded in the 1950s, before O'Hare became the main airport. After that happened, the family that ran (and has always run) the city capitalized on their location with hotels, the convention center, and entertainment facilities. No unions. Hold the same show at McCormick Place downtown Chicago, and the unions will bleed you dry.

You can find plenty of Roman and other ancient coins with ships. Most only show the business end (prow or ram) of a war ship.

Got an email today from the ANA. Apparently some dealers tested positive for COVID.
