I got an email from the Mint today advertising it.

Limited mintage of 12,500. I like the obverse but the reverse reminds me too much of the Type 2 AGE with the close up of an Eagle’s head.

I do like the obverse design. Many recent designs have struck me as too clinical or something…. This design is quite attractive to my eyes.

    Yeah same here xD

1 oz of gold alone is expensive enough as it is. Then the Mint adds a hefty premium and the price goes through the roof.

But I bet they’ll all sell out still.

Probably will sell out and sell out quickly if they don't go too crazy on the price. Its going to be above 2k though and maybe even something like 2400.

That is actually very much in line with a pre-33 double eagle. And you don’t get an ounce of gold with a double eagle.

I want to like the concept and design, but... I just don't. At all. Maybe I'm just not enough of a horse person. But at least this should head off all the complaints about Miss Liberty's facial features, hair, body type...

I have the Packers preseason game on. I came across this post. As soon as I saw that obverse I was reminded of the Broncos defeat of the Packers in the Super Bowl. I will have to pass.

Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

Is this the first US gold coin with a $100 face value. I believe it is.
A nice design with a low mintage, so it will be a hit.
Of course, from what I read in that article about the OIG ‘investigating’ the Mint, 1,250 are already earmarked for those 18 bullion distributors, leaving 11,250 for the ‘general public’.

I usually don't care for modern stuff, but I think this is pretty cool looking.

If only. Looks like I was way under the estimate and their pricing chart shows this will be at least just about 2700 if not more barring gold crashing. A 1k premium is a tough pill to swallow for this and think I will be passing with that pricing

The horse bucking a western saddle rather than an English one to symbolize freedom from England makes no sense and is a bit contrived. The geometric sun clip-art is artistically lazy. Had they lost the saddle altogether and made the sun look more like, well, the sun with rays in the background rather than a spiky thing that's startling the horse, it would be a much better design.
