But it is NOT the coin I ordered... It seems the coin I ordered had some issues in greek customs.. the issue being they cracked the slab (so I'm told in the enclosed note) Apparently when this happened the seller replaced the slab with another of the same coin/grade... (which made it through customs without issue) Normaly this would upset me.. Today I'm not complaining, I'm quite happy with my newest Ike... Anyone else ever have this happen? did you accept the change/swap? So here she is the Ike that replaced the one I previously posted lol.. (ps any smudges/dust are on the holder not the coin the fields on this one are flawless )
Decided I'm even happier then I thought I was This 1976s Ike, unlike the one I 1st ordered, is a pegleg varity SPL (straight pegleg) with shaved E (topbar) That gives me the 71s SPL/FPL and now the 76s.. the 2 hardest to find lol
...(ps any smudges/dust are on the holder not the coin the fields on this one are flawless)... But, will those flaws transfer to the coin over time? Is it a good idea to keep it in this holder?
PS anyone wanting to know more about Ike Pegleg varties, you can find some real good info here... https://www.ikegroup.info/?page_id=214
Diddo @mrweasleluv. very much appreciate the info. I love Ike's. But, was totally oblivious to the "peg leg" front. So, I had to go digging through a few of my own. I found a nice 1976 S Silver Proof (quite certain) and a 1976 S (maybe not, it trails a smidge left at the serif but is rounded). Thanks for giving us something more to look forward to in the coin piles......
Idk, if I ordered one and got another with a story like that... idk. I feel like that's a story. A switch. Idk why? But that's how I would feel. Bait and switch. Why? Idk
True, but in this case i believe the seller (i've bought more then a few coins from him in the past) and add in the fact that I got a nice pegleg varity and he's the one that lost money on this deal
Yea I don't have the coins to compare you know. But I think in this age anything is possible with customs. It could have been he accidentally relisted it. Then sent you a better coin in hopes you wouldn't leave negative. I had a seller cancel an auction once. I was ready to flame him. But first I went to the recent sales and he had in fact sold the coin a week earlier. I thought the low win win me the cancelation. But I have had that one happen too. You just never know.
Another factor to consider: Do you know what's going on in Greece right now? REALLY BAD wildfires everywhere after record heat, well over 100 degrees. Maybe that had something to do with it?
yup yup entirely possible, as I said not usualy happy when this happens, but this is one time I can't complain
