Ok, now thar I have your attention, I just must post one of the Most Beautiful Busts, since the late, very great Jayne Mansfield. I was browsing the ‘net late one night, and this bust pops up, and it just had to be mine. I had to own it, possess it, and put my hands on it.

In all seriousness, even though I already had this date, as a low AU 50, I absolutely fell madly in coin love. So, I fired off a last 3 second snipe, and this PCGS AU 58 was mine. I just bought it for one reason—it just totally appealed to me. It is the classic AU 58— the old “MS 58–AU 63” situation. It is a really nice, classic slider.

Nice Bustie! It seems to be O-114, but you should also have a look at O-113, which is a quite similar variety. She’s close to MS but I don’t think she’d grade MS if resubmitted.

I agree. I think the dip took enough of the luster to prevent it from grading MS 61 or so. PCGS net graded it, and I think the AU 58 is accurate. I may send it in to get green beaned.

A note I got from Edgar Souders (of Bust Half Fever fame)

How can you tell this is an O-114 and not an O-113? Look at the distance between the feathers below the shield and the top of the Eagle's right claw (your right - I know technically it's the Eagle's left claw) on the reverse. On O-113 there is very little field space. On O-114 it is open and noticeably wider - that's it!

It almost looks AU-58 details (cleaned)...but I'm a bustie novice, don't listen to me.

It has definitely been dipped. I don’t see evidence of a buffing, or polishing. That is probably why it was graded AU 58, instead of MS 60-63.
