I think they kept it quiet until now to not interfere with the Morgan and Peace dollar sales which they KNEW would mostly go to dealers and flippers.

I am out, given the way the US Mint assumes that they are special and collectors will do anything to get their products. All they are making is junk, ballast and prefabricated rarities.

I’ll take a stab at getting one. The household limit ought to put more folks in the game. Still, I predict this item will be this year’s Punch and Judy show from the Mint.

 

Not at all interested. For the price of one of these I can get three real ones and still have change left from my $85.00.

 

I’ll take a crack at them, since I like the appearance of the reverse proofs and it’ll be nice to have representative examples of both designs side by side.

Not sure what you mean? They are real silver eagles and 1 oz. apiece. Works out to $87.50 each.
If you mean you'd prefer the bullion eagles. Sure. Thats an option you could probably buy 4 bullion eagles for the price of this set.

People didn't seem to concerned paying $85 for less than 1 oz. Morgan or peace dollars, I'm not sure what $2.50 more and more silver changes.

Definitely out, I find reverse proofs to be incredibly ugly.

 

That $87.50 each you quoted will buy me 3 Peace Dollars and I’ll still have money left over.

 

yes,,,,,,, no? 3 peace dollars for less than $87.50? thought they were like $30 for culls, and $35-$50 for AU-BU common dates? I need to revisit peace dollars.

My LCS has them for $26.50 for culls and common BU’s at $29.50. If you buy 20 or more you’ll get a discount.

 

My LCS charges more if he knows you want it! Seriously though, he'll have something marked at a price, I'll want to buy it and he'll take it out of the case, look at it through his loupe, then look it up on his computer and raise the price.

total waste of time. LOL

 

I’d be in the habit of saying no, that’s too high. My LCS is very good and honest. If it’s marked you get it at that marked price or less.

 

Think I would find a new LCS!
