Surprisingly, the uncirculated Westward Series is not very expensive. I purchased several sealed and slabbed series for our granddaughters and self. They are beautiful and great for show-n-tell also. Great post, thank you.
It is surprising to me, and has been ever since this series was issued, that the level of difficulty finding pristine full detail full strike mark free uncirculated pieces is so hard. I have searched direct Mint source rolls. Bank Rolls. Full boxes of rolls. Mint Sets. I think I have 4 sets that check all the boxes. The rest are OK album fillers and unc., but that is all. It is a fun pastime hunting for the bestest of the bestest.
I love the Westward series. It's one of my all time favorites. I HIGHLY recommend the book UNDAUNTED COURAGE by Stephen Ambrose. It's about Lewis' and Clark's journey west. It's a page turner for sure.
When they had first come out I bought some mint rolls. I forgot all about them until this post popped up!
That streak will finally come to an end in 2026, when the design of the dime, along with the designs of all other circulating coins, will change for 1 year only in celebration of the U.S. Semiquincentennial (250th anniversary). https://www.coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/house-passes-massive-bill-for-future-u-s-coin-changes
