Minted in England it carries the bust of George the third who LOST the war. known to have been circulated in Virginia, Georgia and Jamaica. Rumored to have been used in Florida. Found this metal detecting the home site of the famous traitor, pirate and highwayman, Daniel McGirts, in NE Florida. Egads!!! I don't know whether I have a memorial reverse Lincoln Cent or not. No pictures. Nothing in my database. I should have one for my type set but ...?
You can post a commemorative if you want. Definition from dictionary Memorial definition is - serving to preserve remembrance : commemorative.
My first thought was, “but I don’t collect Memorial cents!” But then I remembered I made an exception in the case of this incredibly toned SMS coin from my birthyear. And if you’ll pardon a slight Darkside diversion here on the US Coin forum, this German commemorative is definitely a “memorial” coin. German States (Saxony) silver 3 mark proof, Battle of Leipzig centennial commemorative, 1913-E Obverse: the Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Monument to the Battle of the Nations). Reverse: Imperial German eagle, head left, crown above. PCGS PR62 DCAM, cert #29851548. KM 1275, .900 silver/.4823 oz. 33 mm, 16.66 g. Leipzig mint. Mintage: 17,000 proofs. Really, this is a two(2) for one(1) "memorial" photo...the Vietnam Veterans is the primary focus with part of the Washington in the background. Think the latter is officially the Washington "Monument" but is referred to by many as the Washington Memorial. Nice design/coin.
Can't locate any trademarks/mint ID on this, but like the coin/medal. Same Jefferson head as on the nickel. Do you know which mint (thought maybe Franklin but again, not seeing any fm mark)...?
