The Flag Of Our Union, 1863 Civil War Token. This is not the error variety. A little worn but still very nice.

A token of that age and showing it's character, who could not like it. Nice one

Love civil war tokens. They are such a window into peoples minds in that day and age. Until I got to looking at them more in depth, I didn’t realize there was such a variety of them. I think yours is one of the coolest.

Civil War tokens only tell half the story.

This is the second one of the sane that I own. I also have the error variety if this one. I find the error to be very cool.

The story stem from Union general John Dix. After the Union took New Orleans, Dix issued a order to shoot any man who tried to tear down the Union flag. Dix was too old to be a field general. He headed up the leadership is occupied areas.

Most of the “shoot him on the spoot” pieces I have seen have been damaged. I sold one nice one when I was a dealer. I have been looking for one, but the prices in auctions have high when I bid. I thought $100 plus the buyers’ fee was a credible bid, but it wasn’t.
