Well fellow forum members, it is my 100th post and I guess it is time for a really cool giveaway. But, I can not make it too easy as this 1968 Proof Kennedy is really a Choice GEM, and definitely would grade high.

So, here is my question. Please post your answer in this thread. The cut off is Saturday January 9, 2010 at 08:00 EST. The first person with the correct, or person with the closest answer at the end wins - the coin will be sent First Class in an air-tite.

The question is: What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen European swallow?

For those of you who have no idea where to start, I will give one hint - Monty Python.

    Have fun,
    Brian

CamaroDMD -- Also, since krispy was a very close second, there is a runner-up prize available for you as well!

"Although a definitive answer would of course require further measurements, published species-wide averages of wing length and body mass, initial Strouhal estimates based on those averages and cross-species comparisons, the Lund wind tunnel study of birds flying at a range of speeds, and revised Strouhal numbers based on that study all lead me to estimate that the average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour."

Please PM me your mailing addresses and names and I will get them out right away!

    Thanks for playing!!!!

Well I was going to ask if it was holding a coconut? Then of course I would need to know the size of the coconut and perhaps ... Then saw the unladen part.. I know the speed of the African with a coconut.. But.. Dang!
