What are you all talking about? A collector product? Circulating currency? What? As already posted, the "2010" $2's on New York are now available on the BEP website. No $2's were scheduled to be printed for circulation this fiscal year, so they can't very well be "cancelled".... I have no idea what news you're all talking about, but I suspect it's gotten garbled in the retelling somewhere along the line.
I was thinking that the message about these notes may have been mis-reported in the news since the BEP has only just put the first 5 districts of 2010 $2s on sale this week and being that they are not printed for circulation makes them a little less present but not canceled. But this is just a thought on how this may have telephoned out to an idea of cancellation.
I think there's some confusion -- Let me clarify: The first 5 districts of Series 2003A $2 "2010 Commemorative" Federal Reserve Notes are being sold. The serial number of these notes is "2010xxxxD" -- Just like the serial numbers of the Series 2003A "2009 Commemorative" notes is "2009xxxxD", and the Series 2003A "2008 Commemorative notes is "2008xxxxD". There are no Series 2010 $2 Federal Reserve Notes. Someone probably made an incorrect conclusion that "no $2 notes are being printed this year" to "$2 notes are being canceled this year".
Thanks Clay. I think that is the correct conclusion of the confusion you cited. I should say that in my posts, I might have been unclear when I referred to '2010', however I was doing so since the products that just went on sale this week on MoneyFactory.com (the BEP Online Store) as well as the packaging of these notes say 2010, but within the product details, it clearly describes that the notes are indeed 2003A series as you helped to clarify. :thumb:
