I'm out of the loop. Are they releasing new halves into circulation again?

From the article I read, it was the response to the change shortage. Can't circulate enough quarters? Mint some halves. 2 fer 1!

So crazy, it just might work. I'd love to see them return to circulation -- but I think circulating change in general is on its deathbed. Except maybe quarters.

I was eating regularly at a family owned burger joint and when you got change more than 50 cent they were giving halves instead of quarters. I kept hoping for a silver, but no luck!

Got the call I've been dreading for awhile now....Loomis can't supply my bank with halves at the moment due to the "coin shortage". I had ~10 boxes of solid 2021Ps before that so I'm going out on a dry spell.
The head teller offered me 2 boxes of quarters which I happily took. Got home and opened them up only to find.....2 solid boxes of 2021P Washington Crossing the Delaware! :banghead:
I love the design but do not need nor want 2 solid boxes. Ugh. At least my cents are mixed. Fingers crossed.

Interesting vise job on this one and the total finds. The 1954 would've been nice if not for that crappy surprise on the obverse. All the quarters and cents were new again!!!. 20210806_182846.jpg 20210806_182853.jpg 20210806_183039.jpg 20210806_183110.jpg 20210806_182951.jpg 20210806_183012.jpg

I'm just gonna lay off boxes for a month or two except cents. Give time for the stock to (hopefully) replenish and get all the 2021 stuff out into circulation.

if it shows "no-wear" if you think about it, except for mint sets and proof sets, then actually every other coin in existence is not uncirculated, because it went from the mint to the bank, and nowadays from mint to coin service (i.e. brinks, etc.) then to the bank...i feel if no wear, then it is unc....

I've only opened the rolls and dumped them into search boxes so far. Looks to be an average amount of wheats but I won't know for sure what all is in there until I dig in.
I did see one wheat while I was opening the rolls. It was wheat side up so I picked it up to check it and almost had a heart attack. 1923. So close yet so far away.
