I don't ever recall seeing a GTG (Guess the Grade thread) here in the Paper Money forum, so please take your guesses; the grade reveal will be done two days from now.
A "horse blanket" that looks like a horse blanket...but still in-tact and nice. Know nothing of where this would grade, but using coins as a very general comparison with similar wear/condition, guessing VG-F.
Unfortunately, I do not have images of this note with side lighting as this note is in my SDB at the moment.
Hard to tell from your photos, but I believe PCGS grades currency hard, so I'm going with 15 to 20 on this one.
I cheated. I googled "Fr. 871a" images and got a whole variety of graded notes. I just picked the one that was the closest match.
That's one way to do it. However, it would be best if you had searched under the term "1914 $5 Federal Reserve Note" it would've been much easier to find even more comparable examples.
