I got one S-Morgan and I didn't even want one, LOL. I was reading my e-mail on my lunch break and saw the reminder from the mint around 12:10. I logged on just to see how things were working. Long story short, I loaded one in my cart and got through the check out on the third try so I went ahead and bought it. No bicycle or boat pictures or anything
on my cell phone, at the golf course, I was able to get my order through, it's a miracle, figured I had no chance!
I just positioned the cursor over the button and held it down until that verified my human status. There must be a way around this. Perhaps clearing the cache. Anyone know?
I was able to get two of each. I didn't mean to get two, but when clicking on it, I guess I clicked twice. Got the bad gateway, bad handshake errors a few times and had to enter and re-enter my credit card info, even though I save a payment method. When I finally got through I was SHOCKED! Last time I was only able to get the O and got locked out of the CC. Hoping I can "trade" one of the D or S coin I got today for a CC!
Oh that’s weird. I remember doing something when I bought the CC and O mint Morgan’s but this time I guess I got lucky and didn’t have to do it. However this time I used my phone to refresh repeatedly to see when they were available and then when they were available I switched to my computer to refresh and add to cart so it didn’t look like I was a bot speed refreshing. I can’t blame the Mint for wanting human verification though. They want customers and collectors to get their hands on them not dealers buying to resell. Afterall they don’t get any more money if it’s a dealer or a collector. Either way they get $85 per coin.
Spaced completely on it this time around. Oh, well. I definitely want to get in on the Philly and Peace releases, though.
I tried to use the kids' iPad, with my Dell desktop as back-up. The iPad got bogged down a handful of times at Check-out (i.e. the Mint wouldn't pre-load my banking info, kept re-booting the Confirmation, and then went spinning into the inevitable error display). Then, I switched to the desktop, clicked on my email reminders from the Mint to pull up the website and sign-in, and I entered the banking info directly instead of using the pre-loaded drop-down) - and, I was able to purchase (2) of each on the first attempt. I tried to go back to the iPad to order the remaining (1) each for a relative, and the Mint website asked me to verify my human status at Log-in, i.e. clicking and holding a button. Had the same problems as the first time with the iPad - didn't get to order the final (1). In the future, it may be helpful (idk) to use the Reminder from the Mint. Maybe they tag/trace (?prioritize?) the responses from the Mint 'Reminder' button. Anyone else have an issue with pre-loaded banking info?
Nope, in fact I preloaded my credit card about 30 minutes before they went on sale so I wouldn't have to type it in. My problem was that I had to submit the purchase several times before it finally took. Each time it required that I enter the credit card again - so this preloaded CC was a timesaver. It finally went through on the 3rd or 4th attempt.
I am happy for those who had to have one and got one but...$90.00 for an ounce of silver. What a bargain. Sorry, not my cup of tea. The series ended when the last design ended and my collection is complete.
Thanks, Cyg. This, in part, is what I was speaking to. Normally, the name/number/month, etc. is loaded with a selection off the drop-down. Where ya just enter the CVV to confirm. It also lingered quite a bit between the drop-down and auto-fill (god forbid you should hit the drop-down a second time, or you start to input data while it was loading). In addition, it wanted to remove my card info every time I verified my billing address, so I had to be aware to go back up and double-check the name/number/month/CVV. In the end, it was easier to manually input my card number (and copy, in case I had to do it again), name, date, month, etc. Of course, it was a mere annoyance... because I was eventually able to purchase. I mention so that others might be aware next time (perhaps, with the next release on 10th), in hopes it makes for smoother transactions. Glad you were ale to break through.... Congrats!
Oh, yeah, that was a pain in the behind. And you're right - there was a noticeable pause once I chose the CC from the drop down - so much so that I was wondering if I'd have to refresh the page. But after 5 or 10 seconds it would go ahead and fill it back in. You're right, I probably could have easily typed in the CC info during that time - especially if I had copied it from a previous attempt.
Just got the following email: Your order placed on 08/03/21 has been confirmed. Please retain this summary for your records. Thank you for shopping with the United States Mint!
I didn't even try as I'm not a Morgan person at all but glad to hear someone on this forum was lucky enough to get one! Here's one of mine, just a Token but that's okay by me!
I don't understand this apparently they took the money out for the d&s Morgan but not the Carson City in New Orleans
It's only an Auth - no money has been removed from your credit card. That won't happen until they're shipped.
I was able to order 3 of each today. My experience was about the same as the CC and Os. Was really easy getting them both in the cart and getting to payment page. The last steps, finalize order and order confirm is where it got hung up again for me. It would not finalize the order and I had to click through the CC info I would say no less than 7 or 8 times. I finally got an attempt through around 12:15 and got a confirmation # and an e-mail right away. Had no less than 4 different error messages and multiples of each but it finally went through. BTW had the HH order limit been higher I still would have purchased this number. I would not have went for 5 or 10. I plan to get them all graded and really want a 70 set. I talked to the mint and they said these orders don't count towards the free shipping program because even though you have orders in , they haven't shipped so they don't count towards loyalty program. They told me it wouldn't change to free later either so I ordered one more small thing a while back to qualify for the free shipping on these. FYI
I shows up as a pending charge on my credit card. I will check tomorrow to see if it's the same status.
It can stay that way up to 7 days according to card network rules, unless the mint issues a Reversal on the Auth. Otherwise it should drop off within a week.
