I picked these up today and they are new to my collection as I don't have any German or Netherlands coins at all except one Notgeld and that don't count cause of it's condition. :D Besides it doesn't have the angry looking bird. :D

The coin on the bottom is from Neder India which is now known as Antilles. Anyways it's a tad smaller than a US dime and it's silver 1949. anyone know how much it's worth? just curious I love that German Mark coin and the bird coin too!!

  8. Very cool coins....there are quite a few German collectors around, myself included.

I have also got a few modern Netherlands Antilles coinage, I had never seen one before with Arabic on it, still so much to learn

By the way, "Nederlandsch Indië" is indeed the East Indies - basically what today is Indonesia. (The Antilles are elsewhere, roughly between Venezuela and Puerto Rico, and the Nederlandse Antillen will cease to exist, as an administrative region, on 10 October.)

The German 5 DM coin was made from 1951 until 1974 (and in circulation between 1952 and 1975). Got replaced by a Cu-Ni piece in the mid-70s. There was also a note with the same face value, but that was rarely used.

Amazing!! I really hate it when one of my beauties is only worth a couple bucks. I guess it's really a good thing b/c it means I won't sell it for a long, long time and maybe never!! :high5:
