I bought one of these for a nice $72.. Which one would you consider a good buy at that price... Real easy 1 2 or 3 with a side note they all carry the same grade....MS63 #1 #2 #3
I’d say coin #3. Coin #1 appears to have a scratch in Liberty’s face and #2 is a Barber Half, right? ;-) Can you post better pics?
Im gonna keep this short, and say I'm really surprised nobody caught on... all 3 are the SAME coin.. I thought the die crack on the left side of the reverse (near the I of united) was a dead giveaway... the 1st 2 sets are the sellers crappy pics and the 3rd set are from NGC... I have to thank the sellers awful pics for a nice ending price on the auction (well nice price for me the buyer not so much for the seller )
I'll guess that the reason nobody picked up on it is the same reason I didn't; Pic #1's face was so cut up, I didn't even look at the reverse (other than a cursory glance while scrolling) Pic #2's Obv looked a hair better, but not still not enough to care too much about the reverse Pic #3's Obv looked a lot better then the first two, and the rev looks on par with the obverse, so I liked it enough to know I wouldn't even consider #'s 1&2, or give them another look. Some secondary notes on the pics; pic#2's obverse almost looks borderline polished, whereas pic #3's light toning makes the coin look to have natural skin. If you put them in a different order, I think there would have been a higher chance of someone noticing they're the same coin, but the photos make it look like 3 different coins. This is a good educational thread to show how wildly different a coin can look depending on the photographer's abilities, and also justifies many CT member's claims of "I can't (won't) guess the grade of a photo)". Great thread!
It could have been fun if the OP wouldn’t have misled us… “they all carry the same grade” implies those are different coins, but they aren’t.
but what I said is exactly true... all of those pictures carry the "same grade".. not grades.. My English was quite correct, if anything that was a hint... not a misdirection
I was thinking it was the same coin but I couldn't match the cheek hit, so I backed off that guess (photo angles played a role and @Beefer518 explained it well too).
Zoom!!! That was some nice fast shipping.. In hand already and a much better set of pics (my phone not great but better then the above sets lol) I'm very happy side note: the sticker peeled off cleanly.. i do hate sellers that put stickers on slabs..
