Hi Folks, got this in the Mail the other day. 35 Dollars, European Dealer. What is your grade on this 1894 O Morgan? Fell free to explain your opinion. Thanks for reading. Yours Rheingold
Average grade,I'll guess F-12 maybe $65 coin . Moderate to heavy wear. Entire design is clear and bold . Obverse : hair line along the face is clearly defined . Reverse: Tips of wings almost smooth . Head , neck and breast nearly are nearly smooth but tail feathers slightly worn .
EF45 for me. The missing hair detail over the ear, breast feathers and left wreath leaves are due to the soft strike. Nice example for the issue and price.
All Morgan's are beautiful. The sad thing is they have to be graded. With that being said, I'm at EF-40. Nice toning, high points are good, mint mark is a bit worn. Remember, all Morgan's are keepers. She's a beauty, thanks for sharing.
35. Good, old-fashioned circulation wear. Enough to keep it out of high grade, but a nice coin, and a very good date.
Some luster was suggested but can't/don't see it whatsoever. To me, my interpretation...it may be (just maybe) F-12/15.
Can't be a Fine anything, in my opinion. Look at the eagle's feathers. I agree with all the XF40 grades on here.
Look at the eagle’s breast. No feathers. Look at the eagle’s wings—plenty of wear. 35 grade right there.
Not really. 1894 Philadelphia is an average strike date. 1894o, “the beast” is a weakly struck coin. This coin is worn to the high VF-LowXF level. The weakness in the areas I pointed out are wear, not strike.
I have to agree with Morgandude11 for the most part, I would call it 35-40 and at 35 dollars a great buy... hell any morgan for 35 the way the market is right now is a good buy I don't think i've seen a single raw morgan sell for under 50 in the last few months
I thought a 35 was in the park, but wings and other features show ware of a 40 grade...I have several examples of Morgans with flat breasts and normal features throughout...that's why I lean toward a 40 grade. I think this coin is of a weaker strike.
