Registry Fever? A 1945-P Jefferson Nickel PCGS MS67

A 1945-P Jefferson Nickel PCGS MS67 just sold in the Bowers and Merena Sale. The PCGS price guide for this coin is $750 with a PCGS population of 35/0. The total population including NGC examples is 361/2. I bid on this coin and was outbid.

Would anyone care to guess what my bid was as well as the price realized by the coin? Here are the photos.

I would have bid $300 on the coin and I know I would have lost.

 

My guess is; You bid $950, and the winning bid was $1,950.

Ironically, I had the exact same thought before I bid on the coin. I used this as my starting point and got crushed.

I'll say you bid $675 and it sold for $950.

 

No spots on the B&M, but aside from that, the two coins are eerily similar.

 

I will say "way too much" and "more than its worth" to your questions.

 

Maybe to you or I, but clearly not to the person who bought it.
