My only experience witrh Littelton was on those "06 Burnished "W" ASE, they accidently priced them at $28. and at first refused to honor that price BUT later on changed their minds and did sell them for the printed price !! (I got 20 of them!) NICE
It is funny that this post is here, because I just found a bunch of pennies my mom had bought from them 20 or so years ago. On one of the packages it says 1955 S Copper Unc. Which I assumes means uncirculated.. but I am pretty sure there is a fingerprint on the coin.
Basically it's not really knowledge about a bad situation, it's sort of what is called a RBE or Really Bad Experience. Many of us here have made lots and lots of mistakes purchasing and/or finding coins. Many of us here have done buisness with organizations that took us for a lot of money or even a small amount but for very little. I guess this hobby is sort of like someone I used to know that always bragged about how much he won playing the horses at race tracks. Of course eventually due to his wife we also found out he lost a lot more than he won. NO, coin collecting is not that exactly that bad but I'm sure if you got to really know many of the members you would find out about a lot of RBE's. And regardless of how bad some organizations get for a rating here, it is insignicant compared to the many, many millions that hear about them on the internet, TV, coin magazines, etc.

Related Question New here, but not to forums in general, so I was searching for info and instead of posting a question that's been answered 231 times, I did a search. Came across this thread, and what I got from it was that, other things aside, one can trust the grade assigned by Littleton. Is that the consensus? I acquired a few coins still sealed in the Littleton packages and am trying to decide whether or not to have them graded by PCGS.
It's also quite expensive, which is why I'm wondering if it's worth having done again. I don't see the point in paying $30 to confirm a coin is worth $5.
You're absolutely right. The answer to the question "Should I have it graded or not" definitely depends on the coin.
Yes IMHO the only thing Littleton does good is that alot of ppl end up selling their small Littleton collections on ebay and you can get some good deals. To me they are no different than doing business with the Coin Vault auction on television.
My mom bought me the state quarter map from them in 1999 stayed together She did say it was pricey but it was high quality as far as actual coins i have no idea
I had a good experience with them. Bought some albums off their website, which were priced slightly better than those on eBay and before I received them, saw them for a lot less at Wizard Coin Supply. So, rather than return the items to them, they refunded the difference.
I am not current, but in the past they reportedly paid well but were very "picky" and would cherry-pick the best and return the rest. I have not seen their list of buying prices in awhile and am unsure if it still is published.
WOW, a good one to read....I have bought some from them, usually a promo as they are high on their prices. Who other than eBay is fairly priced? I have one coin shop locally and then am forced to drive 130+ miles to the next one. Limited option's in this area....any info would be good....
