That's a sequential menu methinks. Gotta go through items #1 & 2 to get to #3. You ain't getting out of there for less than $6, not including the "tip" . . . Z
Yo, @dwhiz , the Train Carving is still in stock . . . . . https://www.landisstudios.net/vintage-stock-gmm Z
I'm pretty excited about this recent arrival. At first I feared that I massively overpaid for it. After doing a little research on it, I know that I only significantly overpaid. I haven't seen many in this condition and unholed. Most were worn on a chain or medal pin. Z 1883 Knights Templar Triennial Conclave Gathering medal. Julian RF-9, minted by the Philadelphia Mint, 5,000 originally made, most holed and worn as medals. This one unholed and as original as I have seen. The location template for drilling the hole can be seen as engraved into the obverse die.
Here's a real MONSTER of a medal . . . . . . . . The Town Hall of Frankenstein, Before and After the Fire Designed by Gottfried Loos . . . . . . . Diameter: 41mm Weight: 30.3g
This is a duplicate for me but I love these big chunky tokens. Birmingham Workhouse (Warwickshire) copper threepence token dated 1813. Withers 383 Obverse: View of the workhouse: “BIRMINGHAM 1813 THREE PENCE”. Reverse: Shield in centre with legend: “ONE POUND NOTE FOR 80 TOKENS PAYABLE AT THE WORKHOUSE”. Centre grained (\\\\\) edge. Weight: 66.7 g Diameter: 45 mm The Birmingham Workhouse for the Overseers of the Poor was located in Lichfield Street, Birmingham and accommodated 600 paupers and children at its peak.
I just came to the realization (yeah, I'm slow - short bus slow) that 99.5% of my "acquistions" are exonumia. I've got to improve my acquisition rate . . . Z New piece - a challenge coin.
Definitely one of the best 3-4 I have seen that are equal in condition. I don't know what you paid. It is worth any perceived uptick that you think you may have laid on the table. I am impressed.
Well, that didn't work. Send me a message that I can reply to charley, but I basically said the following. I might as well do it in the open forum . . . . . . : Truth be told, I have NO IDEA what one of those medals is worth. Knowing that is is listed by Julian and minted in Philadelphia bolsters my confidence that I didn't make a "stupid" purchase. I'll tell you what I paid for it, but I would first LOVE to hear what you think it's value is. Second teaser: I found an purchased another Knights Templar medal of similar vintage earlier this week. I'll post photos of it when it arrives as well. It's a different design, equal or better condition. Z
No idea why it didn't woik, and I think somebody else mentioned this a month or so ago. The only pm I have got, the only one, was this morning (or maybe last night) letting me knw I had a political post moved to another political thread because it was political I still don't have any idea what that was about. Anyway, value: to me and what I would not fall off a chair if somebody asked $150-$300. I of course want to see it in hand to verify. Not many survivors in that condition. There are some knockoffs out there. Then again, I have seen a Palmer sell for $2,500.
