Out did myself for my birthday this year and below is one of the coins I just purchased. Now it was listed as an N-13, but without the die crack on the reverse(which is possible) I am leaning towards the N-16 attribution. So which do you think it is? Just comparing reverses to what is on Heritage it reminds me more of the N-16, I just cannot be positive. Both N-13 and N-16 share the same obverse. I am still looking around. And as always all comments good and bad are welcome.

Thanks to The Penny Lady for this wonderful coin.

Bouncing to the top to see if anyone wants to give it a shot while I go try to stir up a toad. :)

Sorry, can't help you with the attribution, but can I guess the grade? I'll say AU53 unless those obverse scratches are on the plastic. Very nice coin there, Mark!

No scratches on the coin and the grade is a 58. It is a beauty in my opinion. Just got a response back from a solid eac'er saying 99% sure it is an N-16. The n-13 and n-16 share the same obverse, but the weak legend on the reverse is indicative of N16(Per Toms words).

Beautiful coin!! These coins are really special in high grades. Unfortunately, this is one I have to look up. I'll comment this Thursday if I have anything to add. Congrats! :thumb:

Whatever happened to that crazy toad?...he loves his copper.

Nice piece. Way to reward yourself for another year.

Well usually he hangs out at coinchat, but no response there. I did send him an email about an hour ago. No telling if he is having 'puter problems again or not. I know I have had to resend him my email address two or three times.

Instantly recognizable as N-16 because of the reverse die buckling.

    No brainer, in fact.

p.s. on the N-13 the top left base of N in UNITED appears to have a "lump", which is clearly NOT visible in the specimen above. Again, N-16.

Thanks for the confirmation. I thought so to until I started comparing to N-13's on heritage - then I started second guessing myself.

    Thanks for the comments.

With coins like that, you should have at least three birthday parties a year ! :hail:

The other three I got with that coin are not too shabby either. Plus as old as I am I probably need to go to birthdays every other year. Then again if I had 3 a year I could retire earlier - hmmm. :)
