Clad coins are extremely difficult to photograph and I don't know why. I had to use diffused lighting just to get what I consider an acceptable image, and by no means a good image of mine. Not often you can find a high grade modern toned clad coin. I snatched this beauty up when I saw her.
Very large number of coins from Russia A large number of Russian coins have this horse & rider. If anyone wants to learn more about these coins, here is a link: http://www.cointalk.com/t52003/
The Kentucky state quarter has a horse on it as well, although mine is in my proof set at the bank. Nice thread!
Thanks for posting this coin. The Winged Hussar (Polish: Husaria), was the greatest cavalry that Europe had ever seen.
I didn't know that. Thank you You likely know that it is a 2009 2 zlote; there is 2007 2 zlote that also shows a fearsome looking mounted rider that I'd like to get. It is described as Ciezkozbrojny in armor, horseback left. Another coin to add: Albania's ancient equestrian
Whoa, Nellie! Lehigh is getting into Conder tokens? Lookout Moonshadow, we have some real competition now. We just need to pray he'll leave a few scraps for us. :kewl: Here's a poor picture of a bronzed proof token from 1794 that I own: Read more about this interesting piece here: http://www.cointalk.com/t45028/
Nice one Catbert...I hadn't seen one of that type. Wonder why on earth the seller felt it necessary to hold the token in his hand for the photo. You're hoping Lehigh will leave us some scraps? I'm still trying to catch a few of the ones you missed... Here's another equestrian related token; this one featuring Lady Godiva. It's a Nuneaton Warwick DH 318, probably fewer than 75 struck.
Talk about beating a dead horse.....I'll post pics tomorrow. Too late and the Winter Olympics are on....
