1937 copper buffalo nickel?

    It's just been worn. The silver plating has worn off, it's pretty common.

    just my 5¢

    Buffs are a solid CuNi alloy, not plated.
    I vote for environmental damage.

    it has been in a container for as long as i know so it hasnt been exposed to anything really. if this helps

    How long have you known it? Could've been in the ground for 50 years before you found it...

    yeah that is true ive known it for a few years now..my mom had it before me so i didnt really "find" it
