Wondering why this 2019 cent that's only 2 years old could tone itself like this?
    Tanning machine??

It happens all the time - might have gotten oil on it or was in the ground for a while. I see them pretty often while roll searching.

I was at the car wash once. Laying next to a trash bin was a plastic Solo cup full of change and dried up soda. Being the mizerly sort that I am, I took it home and cleaned the change up and spent it. All the cents, new and old that were in that dried up brick of coins looked like this.

Just a heads up, yours is brown from circulation.

This one came out of a roll of 09's in 2009.
So, it is possible for 1 coin out of a hundred or more to tone.

The rest of the cents looked like this.

The 100% copper layer on the outside of the cent will tone ( corrode) if you live in a moist environment very quickly. The previous 95% copper cent much slower. Jim

I know but that’s partly why it toned so fast. It was obviously exposed to abnormal conditions as well. :)
