The answer is yes, on July 1, here: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/cc...ired-by-blackstone-group.382873/#post-7740234 If you are thinking that this will be a boon to your edited grading company concern, and that this is cheap advertising, well, it isn't. This is an infusion of capital at the right time for a legit TPG (who i neither work for, nor particularly like). Considering the time elapsed, I am gonna just assume you werent trapped in a panick room, and found out along with the rest of us, or before (as you are the "insider").
Dear Noratackie, It may interest you to know that the dealings of PCGS and NGC are of no concern to me anymore. I worked at NGC for a decade +. During that time, I started NCS. While I consider NGC to be the #1 TPGS; I have learned that many of the folks employed at the coin division consider that they are working at a "sweat factory!" The same goes for PCGS. You can trust my posts to be accurate.** I JUST HEARD about the sale fifteen minutes before posting and there was nothing about the NGC sale on the Internet. I had to look up CCG to find the story just before another member posted a link. ** Obviously, you are unaware that ICG does extremely limited advertising, we've needed to hire four new employees, and the owner is content with our position in the market. I'm still at work because I love my job, the people I work for, and the fact that I can spend as long as I wish examining/conserving anything that comes in the door with no pressure or someone looking over my shoulder! FYI, this is what cheap advertising looks like: Our safes are jammed because we put out a great product. I never do this on a coin forum BUT I THANK YOU FOR THIS OPORTUNITY to correct your "snarky" post.
Weeeellll, you just proved my point - the circumstances that you outlined are either false or shameful... everyone knows who you are, and well, you just said what I did not want to, namely those three ugly letters... Its telling that they get the backing and you dont.... just saying. The stage that you set was all yours.
Making a separate post to note the removal of the magic three letters from the previous post of the 'Insider.' Gotta sleep now... so well, slander me all you want
Insider is a well respected CT member who has contributed a lot to the success and popularity of this web site. Instead of attacking him, you should carefully read his posts and learn.
Yes, it was a major cash equity purchase. The guess seems to be that PCGS may split off from CLCT, and no longer be a public-owned entity. This is speculated to be a direct result of CLCT’s increased profitability of sports memorabilia, trading cards, and comic book markets, which are far more lucrative for them.
No its not at all. You just keep posting that for some reason And again the same logic would also apply to NGC
I keep posting it, because it is the heavy rumor out there. I agree that outside acquisition of NGC would be for many of the same reasons. This happens a lot with companies out of the field of numismatics. No reason that private owners might have the same designs.
That's the thing though its not, at all. Some random nobody on a forum said they thought it would happen and their reasoning made absolutely no sense. Same thing with the 100 point grading scale theyve been calling a rumor for a decade now. There is no rumor theres random people on the internet just saying things. The only way PCGS gets sold is for several hundred million dollars. They're a profitable self sustaining business that doesnt require babysitting and has been growing, the logic of them having to sell it to focus on other collectables makes 0 sense.
Ummm, beg to differ, politely, but this comes from an insider in the company, and an insider in the other top company. I agree that it may well be only a rumor, but it is not a random internet fable.
Yet theres no rumored buyers or any actual reports anywhere. NGC isn't a reliable source for info about them either, they have a vested interest in starting rumors about them. Only the board and executive level employees have any idea what the actual plan is everything else is just water cooler or internet rumors both of which are about just as reliable. There's also a major difference between someone making an offer you can't refuse and actively shopping it. If it was being actively shopped word would be all over
No problem. I guess we shall all see what happens. I don’t want to be a gratuitous rumor monger, so let’s all watch what happens with any ownership changes. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Okay, lets calm down a bit. It's either yes, no, maybe, perhaps, or who cares! I am my own TPG and I sometime don't even like me, end of story, dum-da-dum-dum-dumb! Remember, we are here to help, not to criticize...
