He must have a friend at NGC. I sent an 1883 Snow-8 to ANACS. Came back AU58 recolored. Like I said, I've sold him coins and they show back up on ebay dipped. I take pictures of my coins and there's usually a tell tale mark I look for.
I agree that if it did not have the NGC or PCGS seal of approval, it would be QT. However, it does, so people have to deal with the fact that they are market acceptable. As regards having friends at NGC, I have friends at NGC, and none of them would engage in a dubious practice of certifying obviously juiced coins.
That's actually a coin I bid on and lost. I have bought a number of IHC at his auctions and have no issues with them. My biggest issue with his auctions is that some of the bids get crazy high. I won't buy any of his raw coins anymore since many have questionable color. Most of his slabs are in NGC holders. He's got a beautiful red proof in an ICG holder in his current auction.
Well, a number of collectors don't agree with NGC and/or PCGS, or agree with you. That does not mean the post by member Steven Shaw is not true or factual. Then again, factual is a market acceptable word, these days. This is the type of coin that without being seen in hand by a collector (here we go again) can not be evaluated from a photo. No, I don't care how much experience a person has. I know, and have stated before, it is a talent that is so limited that the person that possesses same is a true rarity. The coin is what it is. I remember a conversation when a collector said to Stewart Blay that a lot of his cents looked artificial. The reply: Prove it, without pictures.
I just think it odd that someone would have only coins with the type of toning his has. Even the copper nickel Indians look strange sometimes. He did tell me he gets them from somebody once when I asked him about the toning.
The point you are missing is that whatever was done, or not done to the coin, it is considered market acceptable. So, your point has no validity, as collectors buy what I think are certainly questionable, and nobody does anything about it. There are several dealers doing the same thing on eBay, and get away with it, as a result of market conditions. I am glad I lost the auction, as I said previously. To me, the coins are QT, but people buy them as straight graded.
That does not mean the coin is not juiced, and does not mean the opinion is finite, and does not mean the person has the ability to definitively know for sure. Of course no grader would partake of such deception these days. The price to to so personally and for the business entity is to high a price. Done in the past? Absolutely. Obviously juiced is in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion.
I am not missing any point, and do not need to win. I have an opinion. Market acceptable is not infallibility. I do not sit on the curb of profit collecting. Grandiose statements do not make your position infallible.
Actually, it is the other way around. I will state that I developed a bit of an annoyance with you over the years, but it does not enter into my replies to anybody, or in my comments or replies in this thread, to you or anybody else. Although I will admit I think your signaling out a member in your post in the vaccination thread (yesterday?)was childish and petty and not necessary. You have a habit of disparaging members that do not categorically agree with you and you use more swords when you post to replies that you don't like, that the 3 Musketeers would be envious of you.
It is always important to announce to the world someone is on your personal secret double probation ignore list, because...pouting alone is no fun. It also builds self righteousness, a very important trait for immature responses. A slight example: "Whatever" displays and outstanding command of the written language, fer shurrr.
I do not have any idea. I haven't done so in 16 years, and wouldn't even know which button on the keyboard to start the process.
I thought I was on ignore? What did you do, peek and cheat? Calm down. Sheesh. If it helps, I will agree your opinions are right. That should assuage your dissatisfaction with my posts.
