Beautiful coin, but I think I would rather contribute to my retirement account!

 

Seems more like at least four times in a lifetime, unless you're really, really young.

Still deeply suspicious of this seller, since they seem to have only key dates, and many of those in large quantities. But I seem to recall in another thread that someone bought one, submitted it, and it came back "Genuine", so maybe their racket is "only" cracking out problem coins and selling them as "looks great to us".

 

Why would this not be slabbed? I wouldn't even think of buying something like this without TPG verification.

 

Would not touch that coin with a 10 foot pole. That uncommon, and uncertified? I would want the TPG, AND CAC verification/certification if I were interested in buying a coin at that high level.

Yea, Meow would be wary of it too. A TPGed one would seem like a good deal but at decent MS65 or better grade.

Looks genuine but yeah...a coin of that caliber not even certified?!
Are they in a hurry to sell it or just that lazy about getting the best price...seems weird to me.

The 1909 S also looks genuine but as a pro photographer with my eagle eyes it immediately looks cleaned to me. Not only that but compare their lighting of the 1909 S to all their other coins...why such poor lighting and contrast and color?...Because it would look terrible if properly lit. I guarantee it. Almost looks as if it's been cleaned via finger rubbing

 

That one lists as Cleaned, what better way to keep a fake coin out of the graders hand then say its cleaned? then few are motivated to get it entombed.

You don't sell a coin like this raw unless you are up to something or stupid.

I bought this one a several years ago and then watched the price plummet. I least I know that it's a real Proof. As to why it's not cameo, you will have to ask NGC. They called PR-64. The Proof mintage is 1,039.

The red on the reverse is from the red light on the camera.

 

For a proof Morgan 930 is all that low a mintage. And proof Morgan don't come on the market all that seldom.

 

I have long held to buying only authenticated coins that are key dates, low mintages or known to be counterfeited in quantity (quite a few because they are popular, not expensive). Why it's not already graded becomes irrelevant because, while extremely rare, some are still in the raw. So it would be a tremendous gamble at great cost.
