"The Bank of Israel intends to issue several millions of special edition coins to be distributed to the public through banks and the Israel Postal Company by the end of 2021.

The Israeli government approved a proposal by the Bank of Israel to issue a special edition of a 5 NIS coin designed specifically as a token of appreciation to Israeli medical staff, the Bank of Israel announced on Friday.

This symbol of gratitude is in response to medical teams' massive contributions and fight for the lives of the public during the corona crisis."

Personally, I`m quite excited, this is an extremely rare occasion. Israel circulation coins are exactly the same since 1985 and most recent new circulation coin, the 2 NIS, was released in 2008. No new designs every year, no anniversaries or commemoratives.

Will they become a common circulation coin you can get as a change or immediately end up in collections and hoards? Not sure what effect could "few millions" coins have.

I like the current Israeli coins, although it's a valid criticism that they've gotten a bit boring after 35 years. Good to see something a little different.

I am not sure this is the correct place to post but .... I inherited Palestine and Israeli coins and I have no interest in them. Is there an auction or place to sell them? Thank you.

I use them almost daily, they are SO boring... I can only watch in envy yearly new designs releases of US quarters and dollars.

Palestine coins (and banknotes) can be rather valuable, also some older Israeli coins.
You can start with making a post with photos in Whats It Worth section to understand what you have. It would be a good idea to know what you have before trying to sell anything.
If you have some specific questions, I`ll be glad to assist in PM.
