I agree with most everyone else, return the coin if you don't like it. e-Bay does have a return policy no matter what the seller states. Go through e-Bay returns, don't even contact the seller. You will get your money back.
Did the coin arrive in a 2x2 of a flip of any kind? If you removed it from the packaging can that void a return?
Welcome to the forum, Haley. I don't find that coin very attractive, either and recommend you return it if at all possible. Personally, I am not even sure that it is toned naturally vs. having a chemical agent applied.
The only time I would buy a rainbow toned Morgan Dollar would be if it’s in an NGC holder with a star grade for exceptional eye appeal. If it’s like MS 64* then usually it means NGC graders think it’s got excellent eye appeal and you can usually feel safe knowing that the toning is both authentic and no lighting tricks were used.
Well in all fairness if NGC saw the coin that OP posted they would not give it the star designation for exceptional eye appeal. However a coin like this one with the star designation I would feel much more comfortable buying as a toned coin. But it would also be more expensive than OP’s coin I’m sure.
Absolutely, whether a Morgan is entirely Red or blue, when the entire spectrum is there it makes the difference. NICE 65*
Yeah it's a pretty sweet Morgan but it's not mine. I was just using it as an example to inform OP that if she sees a Morgan like that one with a star designation she could get one that she knows is legitimately toned and beautiful rather than one that has just had lighting tricks done with it. Sure it would cost more but it would also resell for more and that peace of mind is worth it.
Great thing about ebay is they are totally on your side if you explain simply and sincerely that you didn't get what was described and or pictured. Return shipping is almost always covered by the seller too. Most often if the seller wants to make it difficult for you ebay simply refunds you and you don't even need to deal with returning the item...I'd start the return process on ebay as well. I have no patience for selling deception.
Found a good example of what I was trying to describe in my earlier post. A post by Idhair: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/the-things-you-can-make-the-camera-do.383380/
