This looks like it's in pretty nice condition. Not sure if I should have an expert look at it or not. MC

If you want us to grade this then you'll need to crop out that excess material . You tell if it's VF or MS in these photos.
    Thanks !!

That is a nice commemorative and one of the more attractively designed early commemorative. It is mighty tough to judge grade from a thumbnail photo. From the hip I would say somewhere between an AU55 to MS60 which would make that a $150.00-$200.00 coin maybe. I would caution you to not try to rub or clean the coin in any way. That would ruin any potential inherent value and coin collectors can spot cleaned coins a mile away. Put it in a protective holder like a flip or safe-snap. They are super cheap and will keep your coin from suffering any damage.

Great advise. Thank you Randy! I tried to take some better pics and am going to upload them in just a moment. That may help with an assessment.

Not sure what you are asking. If you want to know if you should send it to a TPG (Third Party Grader), I'd asked you, "For what reason?" If you simply wanted more information, then members here can give it. If you wish to know the grade and have it protected by a slab, sure, go ahead and send it in, otherwise, I'd put it in a flip to protect it and keep it in my collection.
    Welcome to CT BTW.

In your context/use, about giving advice, it's "advice"...with a 'c'. If to advise someone, it's advise...with an 's'. It's so hard for me...the hardest rule on CT...sorry...I must and do bite my tongue (brain, key fingers, etc) so very often to hold back...but it just got the best of me, here. Again, sorry.

Part of the commemorative half dollars of the 20s-30s...they're all pretty cool and most are valuable in MS conditions...a few in AU...think they're all listed with photos and info in the back part of the Red Book. Not sure I've seen or familiar with them all, either.

    First, Welcome.gif to CT, MC!

Second, I might be incorrect here, but with those photos, it looks cleaned to me.

No need to apologize. Please feel free to correct me any time. I wouldn't want you to bite your tongue off on my account. ;)

I guess I was just wanting some opinions on if it was worth getting it graded.

This coin was left to me in a clear coin holder and was not cleaned by me.

I don't believe that coin has been cleaned and does appear to be a better grade specimen. Not sure what is staining the reverse but it may merit an acetone. And for sure, get that lovely coin into a good holder. Nice piece!

I wouldn’t have it graded and slabbed but I would put it in a plastic holder. I doubt it had been cleaned.
