Never heard of this until I wanted to verify a coin, what the heck happened? Anyone know, maybe you all here on Cointalk had spoken about this before, obviously I missed that conversation! Quite a system. https://coinweek.com/education/coin-grading/anacs-suspends-coin-grading-operations/
That's freaky - but from the comments below that article, they resumed grading about two months later: Hubert Walker September 6, 2020 at 7:35 PM Yes. They resumed grading May 11. That's good to hear Cooper12! How do you feel about ANACS grading? World coins? US coins? Tokens?
these where reholders but they have been tough on Morgans's . I do have some Conder tokens I am considering sending but I have enough it may just be worth signing up for PCGS or NGC since i have 10 of them to send. Plus some a few other odds and ends
I seen the title of thread and instanly thought to myself those yellow labels finally did them in Glad thats not the case though.
Something you guys taught me is "buy the coin, not the holder!" Hee!!! That said, I've gotten some really nice coins in ANACS and ICG holders because a lot of folks are only worried about the holder / resale value. Thank goodness!
If Anacs & ICG offered some modest label options just in color choice it really would be nice, I like the holders too and still wish they would bring back the soapbox holders.
[ when you reholder a old soap box at Anacs or one from a blue holder they put it in a blue holder . I like the blue better than the yellow
In my SLQ collection inventory, I mark those sweet little old soapboxes as thus - 5. 1917 25c ANACS AU50 (old holder)" But I think I should mark them as 5. 1917 25c ANACS AU50 (Soapbox Derby Winner). Thoughts? Here's an older (not current collection) pic of some including in old ANACS and NGC soapboxes-
Wasn't the blue holders the ones they were supposedly over-grading? but i liked them too, it's a shame they don't try to offer them as retro holders maybe with a premium.
That's a nice collection, something about some circulated coins seems to let them age more gracefully. those and Morgans.
I dont know , the few I have look correct , and some are old reholdered soap box ones. The soap box before the barcode on the front where the toughest graded I think
I believe you're correct, lots of overgraded coins in the older blue label holders, ANACS really hurt themselves over this period.
Probably why they only reholder the older blue or white holders into blue and if you want to resubmit one of those for reconsideration you have to crack it first unlike if you where to send ngc or pcgs to them
