MS62-final answer.....(though part of me agrees with those that have said 'gennie' cleaned)

not one of your poll choices but I'll guess NGC gave it AU-58

    Trick question?

If it is real and it hasn't been cleaned, it sure looks like a proof to me.

I'm guessing it should be real if you spent the time and money to send it in and think you may have done your homework ahead of time.

    My guess: PF-63

There is a problem with your logic. You are correct, they do details grade, but their grade is only AU details, XF details, UNC details, etc. There is no number added. Therefore, if the coin has been cleaned (according to NGC), none of the poll answers are acceptable.

This doesn't look anything like a normal MS example. It's either fake, cleaned or a proof. It could be the lighting. The fields seem to be reflecting but doesn't look like normal luster.

  10. I think the image was scanned. That may be throwing a lot of us off since scanning a coin tends to make the luster look dead.

Edit: On second thought, maybe not... maybe it's the lighting that's making me think that it was scanned. Either way, I think there is something odd going on with the luster.

AU-50 overall due to a slight bit or wear on the high points of the obverse. But it's had a cleaning at some point.

He did not state when it will end, but he sent the coin to NGC to be graded "some time ago". That is not a definite answer, but sounds like it will be more than a couple days before he gets an answer.

The had been sent off to NGC for Authentication and it has not been returned as yet. So if you wish, you can Guess the grade.

You are correct, and anyone who guessed a definitive grade would also be incorrect if the coin has been determined to have been cleaned according to the poll grade opinion had been worded.

My opinion still stands " Fake" . Not because the images offered are suggestive of an uncommon high grade example ( I believe the image has been scanned and distort the actual condition ) . IMHO I believe the coin was previously wrongly authenticated and encapsulated in an old ANACS holder, cracked and perhaps further cleaned up a bit and resold raw. A very real possibility because there were many counterfeit examples of this date, and some even passed earlier authentication.

I sincerely hope I will be proved incorrect for this new owners sake.

I'm not familiar at all with the coin but to me it looks GENUINE and cleaned. I don't think it's a fake because the denticles are very clearly delineated. I've not compared this with any other like coin so I'm just going by instinct and what I can see, without researching anything.

    It's my guess.

I`m just a kid and not very good at grading but it looks like to me is maybe MS-60 to MS-61 but cleaned.
